Becoming Your Own Energy Reader: 5 Simple Steps to Reading Auras

On your journey towards becoming your own energy reader, aura interpretation is a great exercise. As everything is energy, the ability to read and interpret your own energy is possible for everyone. This exploration of energy interpretation brings us into the realm of metaphysics, opening doors to deeper understanding. The projections of our psyche and physical state manifest in our auric fields. By deciphering these energy projections, we gain insights that can aid in self-diagnosis and corroborate internal imbalances.

Here are three simple steps to initiate this skill:

1. Intention Container

Within the infinite energy landscape we live in, creating a metaphysical container is essential for channeling relevant energies. So tapping into specific energy requires a structured approach. You do this by setting an intention. Here’s how it works: The intention is the container. It’s opens the field. You are creating a space with purpose to be filled with specific and relevant energies. Before dipping into your intuitive skills, you must lay the groundwork by setting up this infrastructure. By crafting a container, you invite the precise energies needed to flow through for you to interpret. By just inquiring about someone’s aura, your inquiry creates a sacred space where intuitive insights can emerge. While your intention holds the space, it’s your job to discern the most truthful energies that set it apart from the infinite number of other possible answers. Then, you begin the creative process of interpreting the energies.

2. Visualization

To see implies a far deeper perception than to look—as exemplified by Don Juan in the Carlos Castaneda series. When Castaneda looked at a person, he only perceived a body, facial expressions, clothing. When he learned to see, he perceived a luminous egg surrounding the body - the web of interpenetrating energies we call the aura.

Our minds act like a stage where images play out. Being able to see things objectively helps you tell apart psychic insights from your own thoughts, making it easier to understand.

Think of your mind's eye as a screen where you can project images to see them clearly. If you close your eyes and think of your car, you might see its color, feel the texture of the seats, or notice a small dent. You can mentally walk around the car as if it were right in front of you. Even though you can't physically touch it, doesn't make it any less real. Then, you begin the creative process of interpreting the energies.

3. Decipher Truthful Information

The goal is to discern the subtle differences between the information we request and the countless other possibilities. The clarity and potency of the intuitive image that fits within your intention container is what will distinguish it from the infinite number of other potential insights.

If you tried to remember who told you a particular joke at a party, you would review the people at the party, the people you had personal conversations with, all the time keeping the joke in your mind, waiting for the right piece of data to fall into place. When you hit the correct memory, the image would "light up" in your mind—as if illuminated by a clarity that the other images did not have. In this process, we look through thousands of bits of data, sorting and deciphering, until we "see" the pieces that fit. Just as a computer contains data that is accessible only with the right command, so do our mental images require the proper mental image to unlock them. Just as a librarian needs to know the decimal system to find a book, so too must a clairvoyant develop the skills to access the information they seek.

4. Creative Observation

To understand the subtle movements of the energy world, you can't expect them to be obvious like bright neon signs. Interpreting psychic images often requires paying attention to small details.

Shift your focus from observing the physical world to sensing, feeling, and knowing the deeper truths surrounding yourself and others. Close your eyes, and feel the aura. Feel into the energy. What do the colors feel like? Notice the subtle qualities such as red, warm, fast, or quiet.

Unless you are purely shooting in the dark, there is usually some grains of truth to all honest perceptions.

5. Confidence

As you navigate the new language of energy, it will take trust, confidence, and practice to develop your perceptive abilities.

Each time you judge your vision or interpretation, you put up walls against your intuition and will likely get frustrated. You need to exercise your intuition in real life. Confidently communicate your interpretations. Just as we encourage our kids to confidently learn new things, we need to do the same here. Embrace the possibility of being "wrong" and show up confidently anyway.

Without confidence in yourself, you cannot read energies. Embrace and trust your inner wisdom, as it forms the foundation of your intuitive journey. If your own auric field is cluttered you will probably not be able to, and ethically shouldn’t, try to interpret other people’s auras. Prioritize self-care and personal accountability to ensure a clear channel for confidently delivering interpretations of truths.

Embrace and trust your inner wisdom, as it forms the foundation of your intuitive journey. Understanding the state of your own auric field is essential; a cluttered energy field may impede accurate interpretations of others' auras. Prioritize self-care and personal accountability to ensure a clear channel for confidently delivering interpretations of truths.

In her book "Wheels of Life," Judith Anodea, shares a conversation of a teacher trying to help a student develop their ability to see auras (Anodea, 1993, p. 303):

Teacher: Have you ever seen an aura?

Student: I don't think so. I don't see auras.

Teacher: Have you ever looked?

Student: I've tried. But I don't see colors around the body.

Teacher: What do you see when you look for an aura?

Student: I just see the body. Around the edge I see the things in the room behind the body.

Teacher: You are looking through space, not at it. Close your eyes and feel the aura. Then tell me what color it feels like.

Student: It feels dark. No color. There's a little bit of gold color over the heart, I guess. But I don't know if I'm really seeing it. I kinda think I maybe see a little red in the legs, especially on the right. But I don't know.

Teacher: I thought you couldn't see auras.

Student: But I don't, really. Only with my eyes closed — I mean, it's just my imagination isn't it?

Teacher: I don't know. Why don't you check it out first? Ask the person how they are feeling— if the colors fit. Reach out and test it.

Third Person: Well, I was running in the sunshine today, which I love doing, but I tripped on a root and fell. I kinda banged my knee a little and it's still sore. I guess that's relevant. (enter validation!)

Student: Wow! I really did see something! Yeah, the red was around your knee. (then timidly) Did you bump your head, too?

Third Person: Yes, as a matter of fact. But not as hard.

Teacher: How did you know that?

Student: Well, I didn't really see it, but the head looked kinda sore. But there were no colors-just a feeling.

Teacher: It looked sore but you didn't see it. O.K. Now look at that other person there.

Student: (eyes half-closed) Well, I see green around the head, blue in the throat - nothing much in the stomach, but a lot of light in the hands.

Teacher: And you still say you can't see auras?
