Frequencies of Fabrics
Fabrics have an influential power that we rarely think about when we choose our clothing, sheets, rugs, and towels: FREQUENCY.
Dr. Heidi Yellen started a study based on a reference in the Torah that explicitly says not to wear wool and linen together. Why would they write this? Her study explores what I have come to find true along my journey to holism: that there is a relationship between fabric frequencies and human health.
As a spiritual healer and energy worker, I know that everything is energy. Everything in the universe, from the food we eat to the air we breathe, is made of atoms that vibrate at different speeds. All matter—energy, light, and physical objects—exists on a vibrational continuum. The vibration is what we refer to as frequency. Grounded in bioenergetics, Yellen’s study confirms that everything vibrates at its own unique frequency. Yellen found that everything, including fabrics, has a unique vibrational signature that can influence our energy—our cellular coherence, mitochondria, biofield, skin, balanced emotional and physical states, and more.
Natural fibers possess a higher, more harmonious vibrational frequency than synthetic fabrics. Synthetic fibers, which are typically made from petroleum-based products, have lower and sometimes disruptive frequencies.
"If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration." - Nikola Tesla
The human body has a frequency of about 100 Hz, which is the same as organic cotton. When we get sick, our frequency drops below 50 Hz, and for people nearly dying, it is about 15 Hz.
If we wear materials that have a frequency higher than 100 Hz, then it will benefit our holistic health. Polyester has a frequency of about 10 Hz - yikes! Meanwhile, both wool and linen have a frequency of about 5000 Hz - YES please! If you wear fabrics that are lower than 70 Hz, you are more likely to not feel great and work against your health.
Let’s break it down:
Natural Fibers:
- Leather
- Silk
- Cotton
- Linen
- Hemp
- Bamboo
- Wool
- Cashmere
Toxic Fibers:
- Spandex
- Polyester
- Viscose
- Nylon
- Polyamide
- Acrylic
- Rayon
- Acetate
- Wool: Wool resonates at a frequency of 5000 mHz, and it's renowned for warmth and comfort. Wool's high frequency could also energize the wearer on a vibrational level, supporting our cell health. That's a significant boost compared to a healthy human at 100 mHz.
- Linen: Linen is as ancient as civilization itself, and it is the standout fabric in Yellen's study. With a frequency of 5000 Hz, linen could impart energy to the wearer, potentially boosting vitality and well-being.
- Organic Cotton: Organic cotton stands out with a frequency of 100 mHz, mirroring the human body frequency. This harmony suggests a natural sync with our bodies, making organic cotton a beautiful harmonization with our body at a cellular level. Its non-organic counterpart, with a frequency of about 70 mHz, lacks this vibrational alignment.
- Silk: Remarkably, silk fabric scored only 10 mHz. Despite this, there was speculation that the low frequency might be attributed to contemporary manufacturing methods. Traditionally, silk was produced naturally, so it is guessed that Ahimsa (Peace Silk) and raw silk would have a higher score, begging us to look again at going back to the traditional and "ancient" ways.
- Rayon: Rayon, which is created by breaking down natural fibers and utilizing chemicals in the viscose process, received a low rating of 15 mHz for their frequency.
- Polyester, Processed Bamboo, Acrylic, Spandex, Lycra, Viscose, and Nylon:0mHz. Urging us to stay away from them. Moreover, these synthetics are detrimental to the environment, contributing to microplastic pollution and exposing chemical residues to our skin and planet.
You might already be intuitively self-medicating in the form of fabric frequencies.
Do you ever find yourself gravitating toward natural fibers, especially during periods of healing? For example, loose linen and cotton clothing may feel inherently soothing. Mothers with newborns crave linen baby slings and organic products. While synthetic materials like polyester and rayon can seem restrictive or uncomfortable, you may feel like you just want to shower to clear yourself in those spiritual ways. This intuition is already within you and has been part of humans’ spiritual and healthy lifestyle approach for centuries.
So then, why does the Torah offer ancient guidance on fabric use, particularly the prohibition against wearing wool and linen together? Yellen tested the frequencies of when both linen and wool were worn simultaneously. The result: the frequencies dropped to zero. Meaning the health benefits of wearing these fabrics together are null. This suggests that as far back as 1272 BCE, people understood the vibrational qualities of fabrics and integrated them into their preventive and spiritual lifestyles.
